A couple months ago I unfortunately found myself on the market for a new wireless router, as my existing wireless router ethernet ports were malfunctioning. I selected the RangeMax from NetGear and have been blown away by the product. Not only was the setup wizard easy to go through (I'm not a techie) but the product itself has surpassed my expectations. I'm getting much less performance degradation through the many walls in my house. (2 story) The range of my RangeMax eclipses the range of my old wireless router. I am free to roam to any corner of my house!!!
Pros: Easy setup, very good range
Cons: None

I's just bougt it 2 weeks ago after check all the network hardwares. It has all normal standard for normal router, one big diffirent is the MIMO technology. It allows your laptop connect wirlessly for long range, it's about more than 100m far from the router and the signal still very good and the connection stable without drop down or lost. Very good router.
Pros: Sexy design, MIMO longer range, easy to setup and use.
Cons: Big, the light could be disturb when you sleep, only use long range with only g standard.

I have very little experience with Wireless routers other than helping a family member install a Linksys router with poor results. It frequently had poor signal strenghth even from 10 feet distance from the router. So the router ended up being returned and the more difficult task or wiring ethernet cables from one room to another was accomplished instead.

I have since purchased a laptop with wireless capabilities and was dreading going back to the same problems I had before. Therefore, I wanted to make sure I purchased the best possible router that was on the shelf. Hence, after a little research I took a chance on the 824 from the Netgear and haven't been disappointed.

The setup was easy and took about 15 minutes. All it asked was to have my DSL connection up and running during the install and it did the rest. I can excellent signal strength from downstairs or any other room in my house and haven't had a dropped connection yet after 6 months of use. I can't be any happier.

My only recommendation, don't forget the password upon inital set-up because I did and now have the unfortunate task to reinstall the router the next time I need to change settings on it. But in the mean, if it aint broke, don't fix it.
Pros: Ease of Set-up, Excellent Coverage
Cons: None

It has soem good security featuers like WPA2 (TKIP AES.
and IP filtering..you can filter unwated websites and shedule internet loging time.and you can deny unwanted people to access the internet during busy hours..

Looks god it has some birght blue lights and people will atract ..good design..

But when it comes to performance what I can say is **sucks* I have to reset it evrymorning coz it goes idel..sometimes you have to reset the router during working time coz your clients wont connect to the router.
If you have 4-5 PCs or Notebooks this is a good product to implement.

Pros:

Many security options
Excellent range
High throughput

Cons: Limited monitoring Options
Very limited and poor technical support

meant only for consumer use
Pros: Many security options
Cons: meant only for consumer use

Excellent router, I've had it for almost a year and it has been super reliable. Wouldn't recommend it though as Netgear releases it's Wireless-N products.
Pros: Easy to Set Up, Reliable
Cons: Not Wireless-N

In working for a major retailer, with a computer services department I find my self setting up a number of these wireless routers.

These seem to be desirable among customers who have large homes and don't want to spend an arm and a leg to get sufficient wireless signal through out there homes. Every time i arrive at a customers home and see one of these jems i cringe cause i know it will take hours to get it to work and at times it never will properly.

Netgear seem to have several firmware revisions to this device and you almost allways have to download the newest release to get the wireless working. Thus far after installing 15 or so of these i have had one work out of the box. The rest have had flakey reception and consistent signal dropping.

The best i can gather is the MIMO 7 antenna portion has some quirks. The device will alternate which antennas that are used based on the clients attached to it. When it switches the antennas you can see the effect on a laptop with inconsistent bandwidth thate modulates from 2mbps to 108 depending on the range and never holds a consistent signal. Network devices have a tendency to suffer from packet loss and don't always maintain a consistent connections which is less than desirable.

Now if you use this wireless router with complementing Netgear products it is a wonderful device, how ever that does not fit most customer's requirements because we are using a number of wireless adaptors from a large quantity of vendors.
Pros: The router functions and lan works great.
Cons: Wireless is hit and miss.
