Sega Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit
The Visual Memory Unit or VMU allows users to save data, play minigames and display gamerelated information on a builtin LCD screen. The Visual Memory Unit also features a directional pad on the bottom left and two main buttons (A and B) to the right for use with minigames that support the peripheral. In addition, sleep and mode buttons are available to powerup the system or to select one of three functions: Clock Mode, Game Mode or File Mode.The Visual Memory Unit contains 200 blocks of space to store data and requires two lithium batteries for operation (batteries are not required if the device is only used as a memory card, however). The peripheral can also link up with another VMU in order to transfer files or play minigames simultaneously with another user. Sega estimates the batteries should be replaced after 130 days if only the clock function is used and seven days if the device is continuously used to play minigames.
